I LOVE making the rings in The Journey collection… They are the perfect metaphor for their name – seriously.
Each made of a single metal piece. It is COMPLETELY UNIQUE (as in – even if I wanted to make another one like it – I can’t).
Each twist and turn, each hammer mark I’ve knocked into it is done by hand and deliberately. I’ve tried to create harmonious lines that are intriguing AND peace-bearing at the same time.
As a jewellery statement – it’s versatile and simple, but strong and attention-grabbing. It says you didn’t do the conventional that day. You decided to be bold :o)
I also like the rings in this collection because you can mix and match them with each other, or with any of your other favourite pieces.
The way fashion is at the moment – you don’t even have to be careful of mixing different colour metals. I’ve made a few for myself and I often wear them even at home.
OK – so it’s clear – there are no stones here. But the power of all the rings in The Journey collection is that they’re like the stories of our lives.
They unfold only when you take the first step – when you take that piece of metal and you DO.
You start bending and allowing it to take shape, but you also make the decisions: where to bend next; how much texture to make, or to leave it smooth for that section; which part of the finger to emphasize for its beauty or personality, or significance…
They are unique, strong, sometimes smooth, sometimes bearing the marks of the occasional “hammering” life gives us. They’re continuous, adjustable, and beautiful from any angle – even upside down.
They’re adjustable – so you can wear them on different fingers depending on what you feel like doing that day. And because the lines are uninterrupted – you can wear them upside down and any way around.
This ring is made from copper – which means it will gain even more character as it tarnishes naturally over time. But you could choose to shine it with its private shine cloth it will come to you with.
It’s 4.5cm long and about 2.2cm wide, but the width can be adjusted so it fits your finger comfortably.
I created this ring because I wanted to do a variation on the Play finger lace ring I had just finished beforehand.
I love black & gold as a combination and thought that it would look fab in this free-style shape design. It’s classic and full of determination. Black and gold tend to command attention and reverence.
The other part of this finger lace I find so, so attractive, is that every single one is different!
The shape just manifests for me as I am bending the base metal – making the end result truly unique and of the feel-of-that-day. So you know there’ll be no one else out there with this shape On Trail ring.
And as with a lot of my TLT pieces, you can use this to combine with other rings or simply with the earrings from the set. One thing’s for sure – there isn’t an outfit that can’t be smartened by the black ’n gold combo.
I chose Black Onyx for the base stones in this finger lace ring because the Onyx is a stabilizing stone. It’s believed to be grounding and to help you focus your attention. Focus on whatever is important in your life right now.
Whether it’s health. Or healing from less optimal situations in your life. Or if you just want to bring focus to the goals you’ve set yourself in your business. The Onyx can be the Totem to help you.
Of course, we know the stone by itself isn’t going to solve things. But it’s nice to know the potential super-power on your side – along with the effort you’ll have to put into the “deal” of achieving what you aim for.
The base metal here is brass. It looks just like 14K gold to start with. Later (how much later depends on several factors) it can tarnish to a slightly more reddish gold.
Please see the Care Tips I have for how to maintain it at its best. It will come to you with a shining cloth that you can use to spruce it up whenever you fancy.
As with all my finger lace rings, this one is adjustable, so it will fit any size fingers.
It spans 3 fingers (5.5cm across), securing over the first and last – whichever you choose these to be.
The design is seamless, which makes it versatile.
You can wear it on different hands, fingers, and in both directions. It can suit whatever your mood on the day and provides quite a lot more variety than a standard ring.
It’s the perfect day-to-night smart-casual-to-smart accessory :o)
It’s a powerful partnership you should know how to use to your advantage. Your favorite piece of jewellery can be a loyal trigger for a new behaviour or mind-state you’ve been wanting to make into a habit. If you haven’t yet had fun with your jewellery and habit making – here’s how to start :o)
