This was a design that evolved out of necessity. I originally wanted to make 2 matching earrings (and in fact will still do a pair but in black – this weekend). But I made the one and when I came to make the other, I realized I ran out of the base metal!
The next batch was only arriving in a couple of weeks, so I got impatient (a character flaw) and decided to create the matching earring in a different design.
IMHO this worked out fab. You’ll notice that I tend to do this a lot. It’s probably a trait of my personality – this impatience with repeating things.
These earrings scream confidence to me. They are bold but elegant and gentle at the same time. I can see them on a variety of outfits and they’ll look different each time.
An upmarket dinner, or a night out on the dance floor – equally eye-catching and sophisticated.
Which is very appropriate for the mix of stones I’ve used. Playful Opalites, and sophisticated feminine small and medium Fresh Water Pearls.
The Arc name came because both are not a full circle (obvious), but also because there’s something lasting and demanding about the design – and the word Arc just seems to encompass that.
I love these so much I decided I’ll make a pair for myself this weekend as well.
I mentioned the juxtaposed looks of the stones of these earrings. But actually, their super-powers are complimentary. Pearls are feminine and exude sophistication and purity, while Opalites are translucent and playful and have many different looks… just like a woman – no?
That’s all I have on their super-powers. I think you’ll either fall head-over-heels with these or … not. And the moment you put them on, their sheer presence will command your focus on them as the Totem you bought them to be :o)
I’d love to see a pic of you with them on. I’ll share mine when I’ve made my pair.
The base metal here is gold plated copper. It looks just like 14K gold to start with and will wear pretty well. Later (how much later depends on several factors) it can tarnish to a slightly more reddish gold (moving towards copper but nowhere near that orange).
Please see the Care Tips I have for how to maintain it at its best. It will come to you with a shining cloth that you can use to spruce it up whenever you fancy.
They are 10.5cm long (incl. the opaline dangle) & about 8cm wide.
The ear wires are slightly thicker than normal (I’d say about 1mm), so if you have tiny sensitive earholes, then this might not be the pair for you. I’ve included 2 sets of rubber stopper caps for the ends of the earrings in case you lose one or two.
It’s a powerful partnership you should know how to use to your advantage. Your favorite piece of jewellery can be a loyal trigger for a new behaviour or mind-state you’ve been wanting to make into a habit. If you haven’t yet had fun with your jewellery and habit making – here’s how to start :o)
